10/7/26: belonging, not the careers service, drives employability

What polling of 18,000 students found

Analysis of polling covering more than 18,000 students finds employability is relational rather than informational — students who feel they belong, who know staff and who have been part of something get jobs, while those given more information about jobs do not. It is an uncomfortable finding for careers services and a useful one for students: the society you join matters more than the CV workshop. Networking and LinkedIn for students covers the deliberate version.
