About AnonFess
AnonFess is two things, and they belong together: the UK’s anonymous student confessions community, and a growing library of honest, practical student-life guides. Both run on the same simple idea — that students are far more honest when no one knows who they are — and the guides are built directly from the questions and concerns that students raise.
Honest student-life guides
AnonFess publishes in-depth guides to every part of student life — starting university, studying, money and living, health and wellbeing, social life, relationships, and careers. They’re written straight: honest, practical and judgement-free — the version of student advice that actually matches what university is like, rather than the glossy brochure.
Written from real student voices
This is what makes our guides different. Every guide is built from the real questions and worries students share on our confession pages— anonymously, in their own words. We see, every day, what students are genuinely struggling with: the loneliness behind the freshers photos, the money panic, the exam stress, the friendships that quietly drift apart. The guides set out to answer those real concerns, and many carry genuine anonymous submissions woven through them — so you’re reading the honest experiences of other students, not invented quotes.
Information, not lectures — with real support signposted
The guides are honest peer information, not professional advice. On anything that really matters — your money, your health, your wellbeing — we tell you what we genuinely know and point you to the people who can help properly: the NHS, your university’s wellbeing, counselling and academic services, and trusted national organisations. You can read more about how we research and write the guides.
Anonymous confessions
Each community has its own dedicated space where students submit confessions completely anonymously — the awkward, the funny, the heartfelt, and the things you’d never say out loud. Reviewed and approved confessions are posted to that community’s Facebook page (and, if the admins connect it, their Instagram too).
How it works
Students visit their community’s submission page and type out whatever’s on their mind. Every submission goes straight into a moderation queue, reviewed by that page’s admin team before anything goes public. Approved confessions are then posted to the Facebook page automatically on a schedule — spread throughout the day so the feed stays active without being flooded — each under a unique ID that keeps the author completely anonymous.
Hall of Fame
The best confessions earn their place in the Hall of Fame: a ranked list of the most-reacted posts from the community’s Facebook page.
Safe and moderated
Every submission passes through human moderation before it ever goes public. Admins can flag confessions that raise welfare concerns, potential policy issues, or anything else that needs a closer look, and respond appropriately before deciding whether to approve or reject. Please also feel free to get in touch if you’d like a submission deleted before it goes live — or a live one removed.
Your group, your community
AnonFess is built around communities, not individual users. Each one has its own page, its own Facebook integration, and its own admin team. It’s a space that belongs to your community.
