27/8/26: the Disabled Students’ Allowance forms for this year are out

Disabled Students’ Allowance: the 2026/27 forms are published

The Student Loans Company has published this year’s Disabled Students’ Allowance forms — the DSA1 and DSASL applications, the expenses claim and the disability evidence form. DSA is not means-tested and does not have to be repaid, it covers equipment, software, travel and non-medical help, and it takes weeks to assess, so applying before term rather than after is the difference between having support in October and in January.

A university passes into private ownership

Lincoln Bishop University is becoming part of Global University Systems, a private education group, with the university’s own advisor setting out the case for private investment in a sector short of capital. For students there, the awarding body and the regulator’s conditions stay in place; what changes is who owns the institution and sets its strategy. It is the model several small universities are now considering.
