The Student Academic Experience Survey 2026
The annual survey of the student academic experience finds students remarkably positive about their courses despite financial pressure and rising concerns about wellbeing — the same pattern as last year, when perceived value for money rose. It is the largest survey of its kind and the one universities design their spending around, which is why what students report matters beyond the headline. Lectures and seminars covers what teaching should involve.
A London college’s sponsor licence is suspended
The Home Office’s updated register of student sponsors shows Bloomsbury Institute’s licence suspended, having been revoked and contested since August. Suspension stops a provider issuing acceptances and leaves existing students needing confirmation that their sponsorship continues — the first thing to ask the institution in writing.
More rooms, less demand, and possibly cheaper rents
Nottingham students have more housing choices than at any recent point as vacancy rates rise and demand falls, which could mean lower rents. It is the first city this year where the shortage has reversed, and it follows a building boom meeting a smaller intake. If you are negotiating a renewal, the vacancy rate is your argument. Finding student housing covers the rest.
