21/5/26: what 96 universities’ AI policies actually say

A study of every AI policy, and what they have in common

A HEPI policy note examining the AI policies of 96 UK institutions raises serious questions about how the sector has responded: policies that describe principles without rules, that differ between departments in the same university, and that place the burden of interpretation on students. If yours is vague, the module handbook is what a misconduct panel will actually apply. Academic misconduct covers the ground.

Graduation may be delayed at Nottingham as marking stops

Staff at the University of Nottingham have begun a marking boycott in response to plans to cut 609 posts, and graduation may be delayed. If you are finishing this year, ask the university in writing whether it will classify degrees on completed work, and tell any employer holding a conditional offer now rather than in July.

What to do with everything you accumulated this year

Moving out at the end of term produces a flat full of things nobody wants to transport. Universities and unions run collection schemes for bedding, kitchen equipment and unopened food, charities collect from halls directly, and the alternative is paying for storage or throwing it away. Arrange it before the last week. Moving to university covers the reverse journey.
